Alessandro Dell'Acqua
I really think that the shoes by Alessandro Dell'Acqua are rockin' it!!! He's not one of the most coveted designers right now (versus Elbaz, Jacobs, Kawakubo, et. al) but his shoes definitely stand out. They're not boring nor overly designed. Well some are but most are just perfect for me. I'm not a party person anyway so these would look good on the streets.
I wonder if they have these in Hong Kong:

I like the first one best. I'll have to wait till Christmas to look for it. That is, if I have money by then, hehe...
i am NOT ninoy.

Nice concept for an ad campaign and marketing scheme, but...
What's up with this "I am NINOY" campaign anyway? I know I have a Ninoy in me because I have P500 in my pocket (although not always). I think it's a good marketing concept but that's all there is to it. I'm sure everyone feels goosebumps thinking about what Ninoy did for our country, but can you really say "I AM NINOY"? Personally, I think it's a brilliant marketing gimmick to sell merchandise and that's all there is to it. Case in point?
http://www.iamninoy.com/iamninoy_campaign.htm is the link to the campaign objective. What does this campaign want to do?
The core message of the Campaign is the selfless giving of the best of ourselves for our countrymen and women and the advancement of the country as a whole.- WOW!!! How noble! So how exactly do you propose we do this?...the campaign is designed to create innovative mechanisms and systems for the participation of corporate brands and their customers in schemes that contribute to causes and projects that enhance the welfare of the poor and marginalized Filipinos.-Uhm, what does that mean then?Concretely, Our corporate campaign partners commit to manufacture and sell iamninoy goods and/or services as part of their participation in this campaign. In turn, BSAF grants our corporate partner the non-exclusive and non-transferable usage of the iamninoy brand and logo in the marketing and selling of their Goods & Services.- Ahhhh, kaka-turn off naman. Kala ko pa naman you want to make adnvancements. It all looks like manufacture and goods and corporate partner and brands and marketing and ultimately selling ang main purpose. I guess nobody in this time and age will do something nang walang kapalit no? Oh wait, you have events ba ikamo?AUGUST 21: The Commemorative Mass at Don BoscoAUGUST 21: The iamninoy Exhibit at Powerplant Mall AUGUST 19 - SEPTEMBER 28: The Ninoy Aquino Photo Exhibit AUGUST 22 - 24: iamninoy Youth Congress Organized by the Ninoy & Cory Aquino Center for Leadership iamninoy Commemorative PlatesPLDT iamninoy Touchcard -
Uhmmm, wait lang ahhh... Out of all the events listed on your website, it looks like only the Youth Congress will actually benefit the youth. I don't really think a commemorative plate or a PLDT Touchcard will do the trick... What? You have more events coming soon? More events soon! MarathonMall and Provincial EventsFashion Show with Partner Brandsiamninoy CDMajor Concert-
OK, now I'm really seeing right through you. The end does not justify the means. I don't think a fashion show or a major concert can instill principles permanently. OK, a major concert may give you 3 minutes of goosebumps listening to Bamboo singing "Hoy, Pinoy Ako!!!". But what does it really do? Honestly? After going to your events, do you honestly expect me to love my country more and do the right things for my country? Do you think I'll go to my job everyday thinking that I am doing this for the benefit of my countrymen, knowing that each hour I work, I contribute to this macro-economy where the Philippines is a player, and therefore do my job more efficiently? Do you confer that I'll go to school and study more diligently, everyday striving for excellence because I want to get the highest possible grade I can, and partly to encourage everyone in my class, if not the whole school, to always struggle for success?Do you expect that I'll be more honest than I already am? Or more considerate of my fellowmen? Or not cross lanes in EDSA? Or have my car fixed so I don't have as much exhaust that destroys the environment? Or not stare at people who look different because I suddenly realized that it's rude?I can not really equate myself with THE Ninoy Aquino mainly for two reasons.
Firstly,
I am not ready to die for this country because I don't think "this country is worth dying for". Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the Philippines, and I LOVE being Filipino, but I am not ready to die a martyr for a country that I know will not change, even in behalf of my death. I do not have as much passion for the greater good as only a true hero can.
And secondly,
I do not have as much courage. With all the extra-judicial killings, unsolved government scams and corruption, and all the national problems a country can handle, I remain silent. Not because I don't care, but because I'm afraid my voice will fall on deaf ears. I'm scared that what I think is right and just will only anger those whose selfish needs come first, those with power who can use it to supress me.
So yeah, I am thankful that this country has its NINOY AQUINO, but i am NOT Ninoy.
dlP Senate Inquiry
It's so refreshing watching Miriam Defensor-Santiago in the Senate inquiry about the dlP. I love her! She should have been President after Aquino. I think someone like her (almost dictatorial, definitely disciplinarian) would have been a good President because she has a strong personality and can therefore carry people into following her. I'm sure she has her own political leanings but since the wounds left by Marcos would have still been unhealed, the Filipino people would have been more vigilant if ever she goes overboard.
I think JSRG is stupid. He looks like a boneless bangus who would say yes to everyone who can boss him around. He tries to joke around with issues of national importance. That is the true indelible mark of someone who can not see beyond him and what is around him, a true puppy.
SMZ looks like he's still hung over from a party at Embassy the night before. And I just realized that MR KINDA looks like Shrek...
MDS may be harsh, but with our condition as a country right now, that is what we need. We need to have steady and sound rules that benefit everyone and not just a chosen favored few. And besides, she's funny. Plus she looks like my mom, hehe...
Poor dlP! He should have showed up! He's just going to be the scapegoat now. Poor GenVer! 2 months in the PNP and a scandal already. He is obviously guilty. He looks like he's very careful with the things he is saying. He may also become a scapegoat since he's just new in the job. He's toast! Anyway, he'll just be re-assigned to another branch of the government where he can continue funding for her wife's foreign "social" trips.
Or, just like any other scandal in the malversation of public funds, this will be forgotten by Pinoys with another terrorist blast or the latest dramarama release from ABS and GMA.
So there...
