Had a fantastic time last Saturday at the Cubao Expo for Current.com's shoot for Manila Style. I met three wonderful people - Sharon, Myrrh, and the Sharon Cuneta of Pinoy Fashion, Cecile aka Chuvaness herself! Sharon's really nice, she made me feel comfortable when I went into the store. Myrrh was a super-nice guy whose style I dig. It's good that I got to talk to and feel comfortable with someone I met for the first time since I'm not really the friendliest of people. And Cecile was just fantastic! I knew she was stressed because of all the things happening but she still stopped to talk to me. She made me feel at ease before I got on cam.
Anyway, here's a slight transcript/recollection of my interview:
Q: State your name, age, and what you do.
A: I'm Nomer, 26 years old, and I'm a bum.
[beams] Okay, I'm a freelancer. That's a better way of saying it.
Q: What are you wearing from head to toe?
A: I got my Oakley Frogskins, a vintage shirt from D&G. It looks normal from the front but when you look at the back, it's got Pops and Pups.
[Turns back] I have this old vintage camera necklace I got from Bangkok, grey pants, red socks, and Vagabond shoes.
Q: What's your fashion insiration for the day?
A:
[Pauses to think] Uhmm, Nothing? The weather? Coz it's hot here in the Philippines so I try to dress as comfortable as I can.
--- end of interview ---
HAHAHHA!!! That was fun! I know I didn't answer the questions as a Miss Universe contestant might but that's all I can come up with. I wish there was more time and more questions because there are a lot of things that I would have wanted to say not only about my personal style but of Manila fashion. I know it's not a documentary about me so I'll make a video
na lang by myself. hehehe... just kiddin'...
Hope I don't get edited out though. If ever I do, I'll try to make myself feel better by saying the following words in my head over and over and over again: "It takes balls to get yourself out there. Good on yah!"

Hi Cecile! Nomer here from Makati. I read your post that you were doing a shoot for Current.com on Manila Style this coming Saturday. Matutuloy ba siya? If ever man, I'm sending you my pics for your consideration.
I'm not a super-fashionista, I'm just a simple person who wants Manila to be more stylish, break some Pinoy fashion rules, and generally just look better.
We're still very conservative dressers so everytime I go out to the streets,
I try to look good para naman may inspiration ang iba nating kababayang walang exposure sa fashion.
Right now, I'm into large graphic icon tees, buffalo check shirts, grey pants, Oakley Frogskins, Vans slip-ons (super comfy at madali isuot) and rolling up my sleeves and pants. I love Band of Outsiders, Lova, and stuff at Oak NY, but I can't afford them and besides the Post Office isn't really reliable.
I got my pieces from my trips to Hong Kong, Bangkok, Europe, and the local ukay-ukay. I still believe in good ol' mixing and matching. The only designer thing I have is a Prada calling card holder that my parents bought me for my graduation, but if I had resources, I'd love to buy Lanvin shoes (fresh and wearable), Dior Homme jeans (they have the best cuts), and the new LV Damier Graphite bags.
What is Manila Style? Since we are a tropical country, most of us resort to the plain t-shirt and shorts formula. This is okay but I think that we can up the ante by choosing a different fabric, print, cut, color, or design detail. Thank God for Zara, Rustan's, and people like you who expose us Pinoys to other style options! Mabuhay ka!
Anyway, I've attached two pics na hindi naman masyadong halatang pinaghandaan ko. :-) I have my "lookbook" and my "accessories board". Sorry for the bad lighting!
My Lookbook, hehe... [lookbook daw oh! NYEEEEE!!!]

And my fave accessories:
I MISS CHIKATIME!!!

... and other realizations:
- Life is short. And I'm getting fat. Exercise is just a bike-ride away.
- I LOVE THE TING TINGS!!! I have realized that I like the more alernative songs of the UK Top 40 than the R&B-laden US Billboard Top 100. Imagine all the girls Ah-ah-ahh-ah. And the boys. And the strings. WOHHHHOOOO!!!
- Prices are rising. Politicians are philandering. I too, am getting old. Mary Schmich was right.
- My insomnia is not getting any better, but I'm working on it.
- I like the OBB of Project Runway Philippines. Don't like little details like too much light and background noise is abundant in some scenes.
